Margie's jocks do it for prostate cancer
For the first time, men have been invited to participate with “Margies Quilts of Hope” to combat both breast and prostate cancer when Margie’s tour arrives in Hervey Bay later this year.
Organiser Karen Canning of Hervey Bay has invited all ladies and men to decorate and enter a pair of jocks or socks (or both) to be displayed alongside the famous Margie’s Quilts of Hope at the 2011 Rotary’s Big Weekend in the seaside city this September.
“Margie’s Quilts of Hope have inspired women around the country while raising money for breast cancer research” Karen says “And this is the men’s chance to enter and help raise awareness of prostate and breast cancer, two of the most virulent illnesses.”
Entrants need

to get a free entry kit.
The kit includes several pieces of cloth and other items to be used to decorate a pair of boxers, briefs or socks for display alongside the travelling exhibition of Mary’s Quilts at the Big Weekend.
Visitors can then pay a gold coin to vote for their favourite pair, and this money will be donated to Rotary Health’s breast and prostate research along with the competition entry fee of $5.
The Big Weekend is presented each year by the combined Rotary Clubs of Hervey Bay and all proceeds are donated to a local cause.
