Sydney Christmas Dinner 2010

The 2010 Australian Rotary Health Christmas Dinner will be held on Wednesday 8th December at the Epping Club.    Guest Speaker will be 'Australian of the Year 2010', Professor Patrick McGorry.



With this award, we recognise that we have in Professor McGorry a leader whose drive, compassion and commitment to understanding and treating youth mental illness has helped shaped not only lives, but our national approach to mental health intervention, prevention and treatment”.  Kevin Rudd, Prime Minister of Australia

We are delighted to have 2010 Australian of the Year and leading youth mental health expert, Professor Patrick McGorry, as the Guest Speaker at the Australian Rotary Health Christmas Dinner in Sydney on 8 December.

Professor McGorry is Executive Director of Orygen Youth Health, a mental health organisation for young people renowned for its programs of prevention and treatment of mental illness.

Professor McGorry, who has been assisting mentally ill young people for nearly 30 years, has received funding from Australian Rotary Health for a number of his mental health research projects.

When conferring the 2010 Australian of the Year title Prime Minister Kevin Rudd paid tribute to Professor McGorry saying "the incredible influence of his work, the number of young Australians and their families whose lives have been improved, and the value of his contribution to the nation cannot ever fully be measured."

The Australian Rotary Health Christmas Dinner will be held at:

The 2009 Australian Rotary Health Christmas Dinner was held on Wednesday 2nd December at the Epping Club.    Guest Speaker was Peter Cousens of Phantom of the Opera fame with Mike Bailey, former ABC Weatherman,was the Master of Ceremonies.
