Warrawee resident and retired dentist, Dick White, has been honoured by Australian Rotary Health for his outstanding service to the charity.
The newly created Dick White – Australian Rotary Health District Achievement Award will be presented in perpetuity each year to a Rotary District that provides exceptional support to Australian Rotary Health.
It is fitting to name a Rotary achievement award after Dick for his accomplishments are many. He served as the chairman of two long-running, intricate fundraising events – the Rotary Health Safari in 2005 and the Great Australian Bike Ride in 2009. He also sat on the Board of Australian Rotary Health from 2000 to 2006.
Australian Rotary Health funds medical research, with particular emphasis on mental illness research and awareness, indigenous health scholarships, rural medical and nursing scholarships and health educations programs throughout Australia.
The Achievement Award encourages all Rotary Districts to support Australian Rotary Health. The selection criteria for the award are wide-ranging but can be broken into major fundraising and promotion of the charity to Rotarians and the broader community.
This year the prestigious Achievement Award will be presented to the District Governor and immediate Past District Governor of the winning District at the Rotary Zone Institute in Perth in November.
