Mental Illness Grants Awarded for 2010

A high volume of Grants were awarded over the years for interesting and significant areas of research. In 2010 Grants totalled $1,215,792. These included 8 Mental Health Research Grants, 10 Mental Health Pilot Sudies, 7 Ian Scott PhD Scholarships and 2 Postdoctoral Fellowships.

Funding Partners PhD Scholarships - All Health Areas

A Rotary Club or Rotary district may form a partnership with Australian Rotary Health to jointly fund a research project grant or a research scholarship in an area of health that is not the current focus.

Three-year PhD Scholarships
A Rotary Club, a University and Australian Rotary Health will jointly fund a PhD Scholarship. A Rotary Club may approach Australian Rotary Health to jointly fund a Funding Partner PhD Scholarship.  After the successful scholarship is selected Australian Rotary Health will arrange for their university to also assist with funding.  Most universities in Australia have agreed in principle, to this proposal.

Each scholarship requires a three year commitment. $29,000 per annum per scholarship is funded as follows:

$11,000 from the Rotary Club
$11,000 from the University; and
$7,000 from the Australian Rotary Health
