Mental Health First Aid Workshops
This project enables Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) to be delivered to targeted groups of communities across Australia.
MHFA training provides the necessary skills and knowledge to assist a person better manage a developing mental health problem in themselves, a family member or colleague. An indirect – though significant – benefit of the training is the role it plays in destigmatising depression (particularly through education). Another significant benefit is that it increases the chance of a person seeking mental health assistance, and through this intervention, help reduce high suicide rates.
To provide Mental Health First Aid Workshops
♦ Mental Health First Aid course is 12 hours in duration
♦ To be held over 2 consecutive days sessions
♦ Suggested maximum 20 participants
♦ Promotion of the event should include a nominal charge of $30 to cover the cost of the manual
This is a community project for Rotary Clubs and therefore clubs can host the event and cover the cost of the catering or they can add the catering charge to the attendance fee. A small charge to each participant is recommended as it will ensure continued attendance.
Target group for this training include:
♦ members of the general public (including Rotarians) who may or may not be employed, retired but have the consideration of the mental health and well-being of the community in which they live.
